In 1981-1990, was a member of The Society for Experimental Fine Arts (TEII). A member of The Academy of Contemporary Art. Has taken part in more that 200 exhibitions in Russia and abroad. Her works are in private collections in Germany, Holland, Denmark, Belgium, the USA, Norway, Finland, Australia, Sweden, Switzerland, Poland, Russia. Lives and works in St Petersburg.
Elena Figurina’s picturesque style is expressive, using broad strokes and local colors. Even the earliest works of the artist do not fit into the framework of naive art, which for her is too straightforward and at the same time too passively contemplative. Art for her is not a profession or even a vocation. This is her individual way of being on earth as a thinking and feeling being. She says that, conceiving a picture, you need to clearly formulate for yourself the question of what exactly you care about. The solution of this internal problem is the main thing in creativity.
