Bulgakova Olga

Olga Bulgakova is a famous Moscow seventy-seven artist, one of the representatives of an unofficial trend in Soviet art. Wife of the famous artist of the seventies Alexander Sitnikov.

She was born in Moscow in 1951 in a family of artists, from childhood she was in a creative environment. She received her first art education at the Moscow Secondary Art School (1962–1969). After graduation, immediately entered the MGHI them. V. I. Surikov, where she studied in the workshop of Professor D. K. Mochalsky until 1975. In this period, beginning in 1972, began exhibiting at youth and residential exhibitions. Throughout her career, Olga Bulgakova wrote many works that often corresponded to a specific subject and formed a separate series of works. In 1975–1985, Olga wrote the painting cycles “Theater”, “Transformation”, and also created a series of works dedicated to N. V. Gogol. In 1980-1990, the series “Dreams”, “Dwarfs”, “Woman and Still Life” were born. In 2002–2004, a series of “Archaisms” was created, which characterized a turning point in the work — abstract forms came to the hay from figurative scenes. In 2005–2006, Olga writes the “Names” series, and in 2007 the “Matriarchy” series is published. Since that time, Olga began to work on works on biblical themes, which in 2012 formed the cycle “Biblical sketches”.
